Ear Clinic offers a private service to remove excessive earwax using the following methods:
Ear Clinic’s earwax removal service is open to the public and the ultimate destination to safely treat the problem of excessive earwax.
Excessive earwax is the most common cause of acute (sudden) hearing loss. About 2.3 million people each year have problems with earwax sufficient to require intervention, especially those using hearing aids or earbud type headphones and hearing protection.
Before the ear canal becomes blocked, excessive earwax may affect the natural resonance of the ear canal and reduce the clarity of speech sounds. This may make communicating with family or people at work more difficult. Hearing on the phone can be affected and there will typically be an increase in discomfort. Excessive earwax may also cause discomfort in and around the ear including itching.
If you are advised to use oils or other liquids to treat excessive earwax, be aware that this may cause earwax to swell and could block the ear canal resulting in sudden hearing loss. We advise that if your ear canal is very full of earwax, do not use any drops until you've made an appointment to have the earwax removed.
